Snow Much Fun

We had snow much fun with our winter-themed activities last month.
Here are a few of our favorites:

Painting Snowmen
We used white crayons and white paint on blue paper.  We tried adding glitter to the paint, but it didn't work so well.  We traced circle-shaped bowls and lids and used cotton swabs to dab on snowflakes.  It was great (messy) fun!

Learning Letter Ss
We printed off the Letter Ss Hunt Worksheet from Confessions of a Homeschooler and used highlighters to mark all the Ss.  Macy also practiced writing Ss and other letters with dry erase marker on sentence boards (David wasn't as interested in this part).

Snowball Counting
Using a template from Making Learning Fun, we made a snowball counting game that got a lot of use.  We also enjoyed an indoor snowball fight with the cotton balls!

These were fun to make and yummy to eat (although very, very sweet).  Even Lida enjoyed our snow-themed snack time - she ate her very first graham cracker!

Salt Box

I found a great tutorial for making a salt box and decided to give it a try.   David loved it!  We've been using it to practice writing and identifying letters, and it turns out that he knows more letters than I realized.  The salt box will definitely be getting a lot of use.
