Sowing Plans

IMG_1337Spring is officially here, the days are growing longer, and our garden is just waiting to be filled up with homegrown goodness.
I’ve spent some time browsing the gardening sections of the library and bookstores and reading up on the topic already this week, and now that Keith is on spring break I’m hoping we’ll be able to dig right in (pun intended).
At the moment, I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the decisions that need to be made:
  • build another bed or stick with one?  maybe try some containers?
  • start from seed or buy plants?
  • which veggies should we grow?  how many varieties? how many of each?
I definitely need to put together a good plan of attack.  I’m thinking that we’ll implement much of the information I’ve been gathering from All New Square Foot Gardening – the orderliness and ease of this method really appeals to me.
Perhaps part of the reason I’m so excited about our little garden this year is that I anticipate David will really enjoy being involved in the growing.  We’ll be starting our gardening homeschool unit next week, too – it should be fun!

yes - what to plant, where to plant, when to plant, how to keep out animals, kill the bugs ... definitely not an easy time - but so well worth it! I hope you find some ideas in our link up!!

Looking forward to see what it looks like next time - April 28th 10am est

I'm jealous! We have 2 raised beds, but our yard is so shaded just about the only thing I can grow back there are hastas and ferns. Have fun gardening!

Yes, a little sunshine and we all go wild with garden dreams. Seeds and plants and containers and more garden beds....these are all good ideas!
I just bought a replacement marjoram and some french thyme in tiny pots. I like to put herbs in the corners of the garden beds. I searched for the herbs I bought, but the six pack of 3 varieties of bush beans was impulsive.

Have fun!
